    Farmer’s Market today!

Went to the Farmer’s Market today at Kapiolani Community College parking lot.  First thing is, they screen all sellers to make sure all their produce, flowers, baked goods, hot food, are all made or grown in Hawaii.  It was such a treat!  And, I think bread is back!  They had a bread shop there with all kinds of bread and baked goods, and samples too!  I think that was the best part, the samples, you could always taste before buying.  And the flowers were all so beautiful, lots of orchids and they had one type that was named Chocolate Orchid.  The flowers were a bit burgundy and white and smelled like chocolate and vanilla and the ones they had with at least one stalk of flowers went for $6.00, can you beat that?   I think I’ll go again. The eats was good, the produce was good and the flowers were so beautiful and affordable.

    Thinkin on saturday

STill doing work at the church, lots to do.  But I was thinking about going to the Kapiolani Community College open market.  I read bout Alii Kula Lavender and was intrigued by it.  Since it is grown in Maui it seems like a neat thing to check out and they say there is Lavender Scones.  Doesn’t that sound yummy?  I’ll check it out and post some pics saturday.
here is a photo I got from Kirk Aeder Photos.  He has some wonderful photos of Hawaii.

    monday blues

Have the monday blues today.  Supposed to go and do some electrical work at a church today but my helper has a cold and can’t come.  Not sure if I should just go and see what I can do, not much without another person.  Well, maybe I’ll sew some more Big Church bags.  I think they will be a hit with the kids since it gives them something to do and maybe the will look forward to seeing what’s inside this week.
I’ve also bee crocheting my daughter a shrug, well more like a bolero.  I made one before but used the wrong yarn and it turned out too big.  This time I’m using Lion Brand Micro Spun.  It should turn out the right size and a lot softer.

Just thought I’d throw this in.

Since I am so proud of my grandbaby (he’s 5 actually) that I decided to put his photo in.  This is of his t-ball game this past saturday.  How do you like that form?  I think he is such a cutie and a terrific kid too.

    Hoo Hoo New toy!

Well I’ve been busy for the past 3 days since my new embroidery machine came.  It’s a Singer XL 5000.  It’s so different from my bernina Deco 500 that I had to read most of the book.  Especially with all the new bells and whistles, it was a step by step process.  I’ve managed to figure out how to send a design to the machine via the computer.  Learn how to do the automatic threader, and the toughest was which picture icon does what and in what step.  STill trying to learn more stuff.  Take a look at this beauty!

    nothing happening here

I’ve been trying to learn Embird Studio better.  It’s a fairly basic digitizing program.  No bangs for whistles,  just lots of hard work and tedious mapping.  Or I could go and purchase a program that takes a jpg and turns it into a embroidery program.  Only drawback is that i costs about 200.00.  I’ll have to think a lot about it.  I’m still waiting on my embroidery machine, should be here wednesday.  And still looking for space to put it.

It’s been pretty rainy today, when it rains my joins get sore.  Don’t know why, but lots of people have told me it happens to them also.  Oh well, just the pains of growing old I guess.

Last night we went to dinner at Shogun restaurant.  Japanese food buffet , lots of sushi, snow crab legs, and prime rib.  I loved the crab legs and ate most that for dinner.  The restaurant over looks a big aquarium, and I even saw 2 stingrays.

    The Big Church Bag

My friend approached my about purchasing some canvas bags and embroidering them for Church.  They would be used to provide kids with something to occupy them during "big church".  She said she would fill them with crayons, paper, puzzles and stuff and they would get them and use them for big church and give them back after the end of service.  I bought one from Walmart, pretty cheap, under 2 bucks and big enough for stuff yet small enough for kids.  I tried embroidering it and found that it was so tight to fit the hoop.  Instead I bough a bunch of canvas and strap webbing and made my own 10 X 8 bags.  It was easier to hoop since I embroidered it before assembing the bag.  Cost about a dollar for materials and didn’t take much time.  I think I’ll make about 12 for starters.  They have the same wording but the back have different designs that appeal to kids.

    Kitchen angel

I found this pattern a while ago and decided, since I finally found the 2 inch plastic lucite rings they called for, to make it.  It came out pretty cute.  Instead of sewing it together like the patterns said, lazy ol me decided tojust glue gun it all together which worked out fine.  I think I’ll use some of my Christmas yarn to brighten it up.

    Pleeeze, I really need it!

Well, I’ve gone and done it, I finally purchased another embroidery machine.  After looking long and hard at all the different kinds, I found one that is not too expensive (1500.00) and not too cheap.  Pretty good reputation and bigger embroidery area.  It should come in 3-4 days.  At least that’s what the company said when he called  me at 7am this morning (that’s Hawaii time).  I guess it’s like lunch time in Texas.  So I’m busy clearing a space for yet another sewing machine thingy.  At present I have, 1 electronic sewing machine, 1 serger, 1 old Deco 500 embroidery machine.  So now they have a sister!  Not sure where to put it yet, well at least I have 3 days to figure that out.

    Something new to make!

Just got through checking my mail and found something new to make.  This time it’s beading and I found it at http://www.beadandbutton.com/.  They have free patterns and I look forward to new ones every month.  I think this will be perfect for christmas huh?  Well, I’ll try and gather all my old beads together and see if I have enough for this project.  What do you think?
